CNN Carried Only 33% of Horowitz Hearing, But Had 99% of Impeachment Hearing!

On Wednesday night, NewsBusters examined the live coverage from the top three cable news networks (CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC) devoted to the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing featuring Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz on his report on the Russia probe and, most notably, far-left, pro-impeachment CNN only covered live 33.4 percent of the hearing.

But when it came time for Wednesday’s impeachment hearing, CNN reminded us why they need a lesson on idiolatry and find things to care about besides hating Trump. All told, they carried 99.9 percent of the primetime House Judiciary Committee hearing on Articles of Impeachment, which amounted to all but nine seconds.

In contrast on the Horowitz hearing, MSNBC stepped up to the plate and carried 89 percent of it live while FNC was just behind at 88.7 percent. For CNN, perhaps it stemmed from the fact that it didn’t feature their favorite Democrats like Congressman Adam Schiff (CA).

Using C-SPAN’s gavel-to-gavel coverage, the hearing lasted roughly 320 minutes and 37 seconds, but the Jeffrey Zucker-led CNN dipped in for only 106 minutes and 56 seconds.

Instead, CNN ignored Republican Chairman Lindsey Graham’s opening statement and didn’t join the hearing until 10:57 a.m. Eastern in the midst of Horowitz’s opening statement. CNN took a six-minute commercial break at 11:50 a.m. Eastern and rejoined the hearing until its pause for lunch.

Inside Politics and CNN Right Now filled their airtime with their predictably pro-FBI and anti-Trump spin until rediscovering the hearing at 1:48 p.m. Eastern.

At 2:11 p.m. Eastern, CNN Newsroom’s Brooke Baldwin bailed in order to counteract any and all Republican arguments with liberal CNN legal analyst Elie Honig and former Jim Comey flack/CNN analyst Josh Campbell.

CNN then refused to return live to the hearing until Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) took her turn. Once Harris’s time expired, Baldwin left the hearing for a final time and CNN never returned (despite there being 38 minutes left).

As alluded to above, FNC and MSNBC took this hearing seriously. In the case of MSNBC, it must have been painful for them to do something so noble.

MSNBC started seconds after Graham began speaking and stayed until part way through his opening statement. The Beat’s Ari Melber interjected to react with a panel of fellow lefties for about 20 minutes before turning it back over to the hearing.

From that point on, MSNBC carried the rest of the hearing until 4:00 p.m. Eastern when TDS sufferer Nicolle Wallace couldn’t take it anymore and began her show Deadline: White House.

FNC carried all but a few seconds of the morning session and the afternoon session until 2:18 p.m. Eastern when The Daily Briefing host Dana Perino took viewers to a press conference with law enforcement officials in Jersey City, New Jersey concerning Tuesday’s deadly shooting at kosher grocery store.

Perino brought in a panel for reaction to the latest developments there and returned to the hearing at 2:44 p.m. Eastern.

Following that break, FNC stuck with Horowitz’s testimony and questioning from Senators of both parties until its conclusion just after 4:15 p.m. Eastern.

For Democrats, Power Isn’t Everything — It’s the Only Thing

The partisan impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump is little more than the Democrats’ latest attempt to gain what has always been the object of their party’s desire: political power.  To the end of obtaining power, the Democratic Party has supported every tyrannical and immoral policy — from slavery to confiscatory taxation to abortion — presented in the political domain over the past two hundred years.  Paraphrasing Vince Lombardi: For the Democrats, power isn’t everything; it’s the only thing.

Aiding and abetting this impeachment process are the mainstream media, whose portrayal of the Democratic primary candidates as the cool cats from Ocean’s 11(when from a political perspective they actually resemble the mutants of The Island of Dr. Moreau), combined with an unceasing barrage of Trump-hatred, would seem to offer the Democrats an unbeatable advantage in the 2020 race.  Why, then, is such feverish energy being channeled into impeachment, which will likely die on the vine in the Senate led by recent pro-Trump ally Mitch McConnell?  Because with Democrats, some things never change.  Trump’s dogged refusal to back down in the face of all their shenanigans simply aggravates their rabid and insatiable lust for power.  By pursuing impeachment, they are aiming to harass the president into resignation.  If that fails, they hope to weaken him sufficiently that whichever candidate emerges from the Democratic primary will actually win the Electoral College in 2020.

To achieve their current goal of ousting Trump, perhaps the Pelosi-Schiff-Nadler cabal decided to study their party’s history, because their conduct in their persecution of President Trump looks remarkably like that of their party forefathers in two analogous cases.  In the first analogue, today’s nefarious bunch have taken a page from the playbook of their Democratic predecessors who successfully dislodged a Republican executive near the end of Reconstruction.

Southern Democrats tasted blood in the water subsequent to the 1874 midterm elections, when, like the undead, their party rose from the political grave dug for them at Appomattox Court House in 1865.  Having regained control of Congress, the Democrats ramped up their efforts to conquer the state governments of the old Confederacy.  In 1875, Adalbert Ames — a Civil War veteran and Radical Republican who favored civil rights for the freedmen — was in the middle of his term as governor of Mississippi.  Former slave and one of the first blacks to serve in Congress John Roy Lynch recounted in The Facts of Reconstruction (published in 1913) that winning control of the Mississippi Legislature was insufficient for the Democrats:

[T]the Democrats could not afford to wait until Governor Ames’ term expired.  They were determined to get immediate control of the State Government.  There was only one way in which this could be done, and that was by impeachment.

Democrats Now Holding ‘Soviet-Style’ Impeachment Hearings, I Am Joseph Stalin And I Approve ThIS Impeachment Hearing.

Secrecy has always been a pretty effective incubator for corruption, and House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff’s sneaky, secretive “hearings” on impeaching the president, literally held in a dank Capitol basement outside public scrutiny, are producing it in abundance.

Schiff’s secrecy act thus far not only shuts out the public, but excludes relevant opposition members of Congress from so much as listening to this Schiff show.  Congressmen from the “wrong” party, such as Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, an interested party with a right to be there as a member of the House Judiciary Committee if anyone does, have just about literally been kicked out.

Now we have the reason for the secrecy from the Washington Examiner:

In a secret interview, Rep. Adam Schiff, leader of the House Democratic effort to impeach President Trump, pressed former United States special representative to Ukraine Kurt Volker to testify that Ukrainian officials felt pressured to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter as a result of Trump withholding U.S. military aid to Ukraine.

Volker denied that was the case, noting that Ukrainian leaders did not even know the aid was being withheld and that they believed their relationship with the U.S. was moving along satisfactorily, without them having done anything Trump mentioned in his notorious July 25 phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

When Volker repeatedly declined to agree to Schiff’s characterization of events, Schiff said, “Ambassador, you’re making this much more complicated than it has to be.”

Star chamber, comrades?  No wonder congresspeople are starting to call this a “Soviet-style” impeachment.

It’s unprecedented (and outrageous) enough that the whole thing is done in secrecy, given that this is a process voters are entitled to see done in public, given that the aim is about overturning the results of their 2016 election.  Like creepy crawling things that thrive in darkness, they’re operating under a rock to keep the public in the dark about their plans to nullify the 2016 election.

Beyond this unprecedented secrecy, now Schiff’s going even farther, trying to shove words into witnesses’ mouths, egging them on to agree to things they didn’t witness to fill his black book and then yelling at them when they refuse to say exactly the words he wants to hear.

Is it any wonder that Republicans are starting to call this a “Soviet” impeachment?  Far from this being about finding any truth, these secret hearings are to distort, reverse, or lie about actual witness testimony.  Any witness whose words don’t match what Schiff wants to hear in those secret hearings not only gets browbeaten by Schiff, but may get his testimony “purged,” effectively becoming the equivalent of a Soviet “non-person.”  It’s a matter of forcing a Vishinsky-like submission on all players to Get Trump.  That’s the message with this latest Washington Examiner revelation.

It comes on top of legitimate questions raised about whether Schiff should even be holding these hearings, given that he’s not on the House Judiciary Committee.  That’s the committee that up until now has always handled these things.  Democrats have taken the fact that they can hold their hearings any way they like to bizarre new stretches of rules, minus precedent, knowing well there can be no legal challenges.  It’s for that reason that Republicans have called it a “make up as you go along” impeachment.

Worse still, it’s not about high crimes by the president; it’s about politics.  House speaker Nancy Pelosi already has moved to make the whole thing political by refusing to take a formal vote for impeachment or an impeachment hearing.  Why do that when she’s got a predetermined outcome from the crazed Adam Schiff? She’s specifically protecting her moderate flank from fallout by the voters in purple districts, knowing very well that impeachment is unpopular with them and they’ll boot those representatives from the House if they go on record to join the crazies.

This is why so much is being done in the darkness.  As the Soviets did.  Heck, it’s as the cockroaches do.  And it’s way past time to flip on a light.
